At the moment there is a lot of building work going on at Hollywood Studios, with the construction of Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge (Star Wars Land) but there’s still some good things to do.
Toy Story Mania
Toy Story Mania is a 4D shooting game that’s fun for the whole family. Board the ride, spin and blast through the levels with your favourite Toy Story characters. I really enjoy this ride and with the game keeping score, it can get very competitive!
Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage
This is a broadway style show and even though it’s a shortened version of the story, it still has all your favourite songs. The quality does vary a little depending on which cast you get; some of the vocals can be hit and miss. However most of the time it great and it’s still worth going to see if you get the chance.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Jump aboard the haunted elevator and hurtle up and down inside the Twilight Zone. This is definitely a thrill ride and is not for those with a weak stomach with it’s massive drops. The ride is dark and scary so bear that in mind when your kids are begging you to go on it.
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
Staged as if you’re watching a real movie set, you get to see behind the scenes and what goes into performing the stunts for a Hollywood movie. Based on Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, you’ll get to see Indi “squashed” by the huge stone ball, acrobats perform in the Cairo marketplace and fires and explosions of trucks and planes. If you’re enthusiastic enough you may even be lucky and be picked from the crowd to participate in the show.
For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
Okay, I am one of those people that is just a bit sick of Frozen now and all the hype around it, so I was reluctant to see this show. However, I’ve got to say it’s surprisingly good. The story tellers are very funny, entertaining and really make the show; otherwise it would just be the song scenes from Frozen being played on a big screen. Obviously, it includes your favourite songs which you can sing your heart out to and you may even see some familiar faces from the film.
Honourable Mention: The Music of Pixar Live
A temporary installment at Hollywood Studios for Summer 2017, the Music of Pixar Live is one incredible show. Over in the Theatre of the Stars, a full orchestra performs the award winning soundtracks from your favourite Pixar films with the accompanying film animation playing on big screens behind them. The musicians are extremely talented and draw you into the story without a word spoken and trust me there wasn’t a dry eye in the house once the Ellie and Carl sequence from Up started.
I hope that this show will return or that Disney will keep bringing back something similar because I loved it!
